So, what's your favorite of the Stone Brewery beers?
I'm a hardcore Arrogant Bastard fan (obviously), although I think Runiation might be edging it our for my favorite.
The Double Bastard is awesome, but hard to find and a little much to drink regularly.
(Side note: Has anybody had their Levitation Ale? I haven't been able to find that in the wild yet.)

Wed, October 15, 2003 - 8:01 PMNo... but I'm enjoying the nice Pike IPA today. -

Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Tue, November 11, 2003 - 5:48 PMNever tried this brew, or drank in over three years due to the ongoing war(thanks Tricky Dick!) within our borders. But let me state that I am without a doubt, an Arrogant Bastard who only drinks real beers and has asked for a popular "call to arms" to do battle against the travisty known as American Premiums. I also enjoy home brewing and am personal friends with the big guy downstairs.

Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Tue, December 2, 2003 - 12:23 PMNo clue. I've only seen it in the stores a couple times, and never on tap. My guess is probably its a winter beer, but I haven't seen any around this year.

Sat, December 13, 2003 - 2:37 AMI love the Veritcal Ale for this year as well as the Ruination. -

Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Mon, December 15, 2003 - 6:20 PMHaven't tried the Vertical yet. What kind of ale is it? -
-
Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Tue, December 16, 2003 - 6:40 PMThis years is Stone's take on a Belgian ale. It is as if a Belgian Double had a high dose of hops. It is quite interesting. -
-
Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Wed, December 17, 2003 - 12:04 AMThat sounds damn good. I'll definitely have to try it...
I'm currently on a quest to find someplace that carries Ruination in Seattle. IPA + Stone's dry-hopped goodness is a little piece of heaven. -
-
Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Wed, December 17, 2003 - 12:07 AMI am sure bevmo has it. If not them then contact Merchant Du Vin. They are real cool as they own Pike Brewing and import a whole bunch of other great beers, they might know.

Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Fri, December 26, 2003 - 1:50 PMI seem to remember a place called Bottleworks (?) that had somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 different beers in bottles from around the world. They are up in Wallingford, on whatever the may street is up there. (No, I am not a Seattle native, but have visited a couple of times just to buy beer. And see friends...)

Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Wed, January 14, 2004 - 10:50 AMI have to say the Ruiniation Ale is fantastic. Too bad I am at work right now.
But their Imperial stout is amazing, and just about everything a stout could be and more, except available all year round.
I've had the Leviathan, and it's ok, but not spectacular. -
-
Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Wed, January 21, 2004 - 6:43 PMI must also cast my vote for Double Bastard. What a great hop driven ale.

Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Sun, March 7, 2004 - 10:30 PMI'm a new bastard to Tribe but a seasoned pro at tasting IPA's and Stone Brews. That is Ruination as my favorite Stone brew. I wish that I had some more of the past anniversary IPA's. I remember the 5th as being most worthy.
Try the Old Guardian Barley Wine style Ale. -

Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Mon, March 8, 2004 - 8:28 AMToronado pub in lower haight had this and many other barley wines on tap during their festival a couple of weeks ago. Great stuff. -

Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Sun, May 30, 2004 - 4:26 AMRight now my favorite is Stone Smoked Porter which is smokier and more flavorful that Alaskan Brewing's version. -

Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Wed, June 2, 2004 - 11:42 PMI love the 040404 fantastic! -
-
Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Wed, June 2, 2004 - 11:57 PMI must agree. Everything they brew is flawless. Though I must reiterate that the Smoked Porter is gorgeous and is my favorite, just slightly above the Old Guardian and the Vertical.

Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Sat, June 19, 2004 - 8:31 PMI've had Levitation. It's alright. The cask-conditioned Ruination is a bit much for this girl, but I do love the regular ruination. I drink a bit too much Pale Ale than good for me.... -

Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Thu, June 24, 2004 - 12:33 PMOff the subject, kinda ... has anyone tried the Porter by Sierra Nevada?
First one I've had that really gets the hop-bill with porter thing right. -
-
Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Thu, June 24, 2004 - 5:10 PMYeah, not a huge fan. Try Stone's instead...
or, if you're in norcal, scout out hoptown's vanilla porter. Yum! -

Re: Favorite Stone brew?
Fri, June 25, 2004 - 3:52 PMHoptown Brewing. It's um, somewhere up north. You can get the 22s at BevMo occasionally, Pizza Port in San Clemente, and my pub (when we reopen in the fall) in the SoCal area.
Don't know about up north...anyone? -

Fri, June 25, 2004 - 4:09 PM"Don't know about up north...anyone?"
In Seattle/Portland areas we have this wonderful brewpub/hotel/movie-theater/bed-n-breakfast place(s) called McMinamins and their Hammerhead Porter is too die for! Forgot that when I mentioned my full hop-bill with porter thing. No bottling license on the horizon for them yet either - not enough $ in it for craft-brew sized batches. Kegs and BYOC (bring-yer-own-containers) apply here.
